June was unusually dry in our part of Appalachia, and we were concerned that it would have a negative effect on our potato harvest, but it didn't work out that way. For about 300# of seed put in the ground, we have harvested something over a ton of potatoes, and we're not done yet. The final numbers will probably mean a harvest of about 10x our seed potatoes -- a lot for our dense clay soil. Our fertility program is a four-year rotation, one of which is spent in buckwheat chicken pasture, and it's really making a difference to our soil tilth as well as our fertility.

Thanks be to God.
