rebuild: from the ground up

The house demo took us all the way to the ground, and revealed that the south wall of the house had rested on about four inches of concrete as a footer -- and this in a region with a frost line of two feet. So we had to start by rebuilding the back wall. Here are four of the crew mixing and pouring concrete for a 3 foot deep footer. Some of the other walls was compromised - rotten clay tile - and is being replaced as well.

Hand work may be slower, but the quality is unexceptional, and we like working together.

The stacked bricks in the background are from the old chimney; the back wall will be rebuilt by William in brick from Belden in Sugarcreek.
