bonfire
In land that is defined by steep hillsides and narrow creek bottoms, flat land is at a premium; but the rampant flowers in our tiny dooryard absolutely required a party to celebrate. The brush and scrap lumber accumulating in our bonfire pit were occasion enough, and we laid in a stock of beer, roasted a huge pork ham, and put out a call for youth and beauty, age and wisdom. We were not disappointed.
Living outside the general culture could leave us isolated, but events like this bring folks inside our spaces -- new ideas for both them and us.
