late autumn
The day started out above 70 degrees, so warm that although we worked in the rain much of the afternoon, we didn't begin to feel cold until evening. Then when we were milking and moving the cattle onto fresh paddocks the temperature began to go down and the wind shifted around to the northwest. We dropped the dry cows down behind the east ridge of the pasture and went home to see that the high tunnel was staked down good and solid. This evening the wind is way up, and I'm waiting to hear a big tree come down.Under these conditions, few things are more reassuring than a full woodshed.
