dairy processing - when it comes in the house
Finally, some photos. This is the first.
This is our basement milk processing station, which (aside from having to be reconstructed after the fire) is essentially as it has been for 25 years. Note the 2x4 and 2x6 construction, used farmhouse sink ($25 at the salvage store), and unostentatious utility. This is where we store buckets and milk cans, and wash up after milking. The shelf under the sink/counter is 2x4 slats, so clean milk cans will dry upside down; the counters are 2x6s set edge-to-edge. The basket on the middle left is for rags for washing/drying udders. Plain dish soap on the windowsill. The refrigerator on the far left is 55 years old.
There's nothing fancy about this arrangement.
