where do gifts come from?

The wealth of food and soil is a dynamic wealth, a living wealth, that must stay alive and dynamic, or it ceases to be. We must receive it as gift, use it as gift, give it as gift. Receiving gifts, we recognize that there must be a Giver, and we learn something about who we are and where we fit in all Being.

When our wealth is money and power - and, let's admit it, for most folks, every need is accessed through money/power, we can't even eliminate our bodily wastes without paying the sewage bill - may it not be natural that we worship money and power? Do we not experience money and power as the sources of all good?

Maybe we should do more farming.
