a long thank-you: setting the summer beams

How to extend beams weighing many hundreds of pounds out over thin air? - this was the problem we posed ourselves yesterday morning. First the men lay an I-beam over the gulf, then pushed the summer beam out along it on rollers made of iron pipe. When the wooden beam was in more-or-less the right place it was levered off the I-beam and into position (the original move of summer beam onto I-beam was made with the skid steer).

By dinner time the first ten joists were hung and the men were framing out the stairwell; real progress being made.
