growing grass where there is none
As usual, the Homesteaders of America conference in Front Royal, VA, was a landslide of wonderful people, information, and networking. Thank you to the wonderful farmer who shared these images with us: before and after pictures of pasture grasses coming in after bale grazing.
Bale grazing, if you don't already know, is the practice of keeping animals in a pasture where or when there is not enough (or any) available forage, and feeding them hay spread on the ground. The waste hay and manure, plus the grass/weed seeds in the hay and dormant in the soil, plant new forage where there was none before. Pasture in the making
