diet: diversity

People whose special area of study is nutritional health encourage us to eat a wide diversity of foods. We are urged in addition, and often by the same people, to eat fresh, locally-produced foods. The width of possible diversity, then, is circumscribed by local and seasonal availability.

But for those who consume meat and dairy products from local animals pastured on native (not planted) forages, suddenly their dietary diversity is multiplied enormously. Why?

Because the micronutrients in milk and meat come from the forages consumed by the grazing animal, which might be one hundred plant species, or two hundred, or more.

Giving people who eat native pasture-fed animal products perhaps the most diverse diets in the world.

For dietary health, eat pastured meat and dairy.
