April Homesteaders event in TN
Spring is finally, definitively here: the spring peepers have begun to sing down by the pond. How anything so tiny can make such a big sound we cannot say. But their silver-bell notes are a signal to us that the work in the garden had better not be delayed: onions need to be set out, new plantings of spinach and lettuce, carrots and beets sown, and, if the sky doesn't oblige us, watered. The sheep keep breaking out of the barn; the enticement of the new green grass is a powerful incentive.
Right now is a good time to make a start at growing some part of your own food, if you haven't already. Rip out some sod and put in potatoes. Move the compost bin and plant spring greens where the old one was. Order a few chickens -- just a few -- to begin transforming your kitchen wastes into eggs and nitrogen-rich manure. Cancel your bando class and get outside every day, learning the ways of all the living things in your area.
The line-up for the April Homesteaders of America event promises to deliver some really useful, worthwhile, exciting information for an homesteader, beginning or more advanced. If food security and natural health are of importance to you, you want to come to this event.
We hope to see you there.
