pasture management: briars

This pasture has been in stockpile since mid-July, maybe, and the skeletons of Queen Anne's lace and chickory, while they look weedy, serve to hold the snow off the grass lower down, and serve as a windbreak as well. The briars make good shelter for rabbits and birds, but take up too much space, so one ongoing task is keeping them mowed.
