Fall garden bed preparation: workshop, Sept. 4, Urban Mission

This coming Saturday, September 4, join us for a morning workshop sponsored by the Urban Mission's Backyard Food Garden initiative. We'll be using found and recycled materials, yard wastes, and whatever is lying around to demonstrate a bunch of ways to start your spring garden beds NOW. Piled organic matter, kitchen wastes, fallen logs, grass clippings, cardboard, shredded paper -- all of these can be used to construct deep beds that will break down over the winter, building soil, freeing fertility, and feeding worms, fungi, and beneficial microbes. Have your spring garden beds prepped ahead of time!

Place: Urban Mission's Backyard Food Garden Center, 7th and North, Steubenville; across the street from the Urban Mission's food pantry

When: Saturday, September 4, 2021, 10:00 a.m.

Bring: a water bottle, gloves if desired
