rain
Three years of less-than-normal rainfall is not a state to be rectified in a week or two; still, the past two months seem to qualify as ending this long dry spell.
The clouds have dropped about eight inches of precipitation in as many weeks, and step-in posts drive easily into the ground. The slow rate of forage regrowth was letting us get lazy about back-fencing, but now there are new green blades pushing up through trampled litter within just three or four days. So we're back-fencing every second or third day again, and moving the stock water up to keep up with the cows.
