grass cows: Jersey/Dexter cross
The sheen on this Mama's coat says so much about the level of health available to pasture-wise animals from a native, 'unimproved' pasture. This is Tallahasse, a first-time mother, in early May. She's been on pasture and nothing else all her life, including grazing stockpiled forage all winter. Those blue-black notes on her shoulders tell it all. And the heifer at her feet is just as pretty.
