What is there to say about cow teats? Information on cow teats can be hard to find.

If they are long enough (at least the length of your little finger is nice) and of a good diameter (at least as thick as your little finger), that's all to the good. You only want four of them -- but a little vestigial teat (usually on one or both of the back quarters) is probably okay. You don't have to use it (the main teat will drain the quarter) -- just ignore it. You want teats spaced out on the udder, not crowded, so there's room for both of your hands. For the same reason, you'd like teats to point down, or slightly out, but not in.

This heifer has smallish teats, but they are nicely spaced, and they'll get bigger when she calves and suckles a calf -- another good reason to milk-share and let her raise her own baby.

Still, if this is the only cow you can get your hands on, make it work -- she's your ticket to twice-daily fresh sunlight-and-grass converted to proteins, fats, and sugars. If the teats are a pain in the patoot, you can keep looking for another cow.
